For the the account name, are you using client name + account name? I think that both are required.

Any errors in your logs?
Did you try both active and passive transfers in your FTP client?

What is the difference between active and passive? And I have a warning about clamav being outdated. And one log says I need the getmail.conf file. Also I can FTP as root just the accounts I make on ispconfig don't work

Did you configure any accounts under Email > Fetchmail? If not, then you can ignore that message.

no the only accounts I have setup is a client account and a FTP account for that client. I still cannot FTP with that account. Really need some help. Do I have to use pure FTP as the program I use to FTP to the server or something?

No, you need an FTP client such as FileZilla.
Also, please try active and passive transfers in your FTP client.

Passive nor active FTP works. When you make an FTP account on ispconfig 3 which file holds the account info?

It's stored in the MySQL database.

What directory Is the file in?
Also could it be because I installed ispconfig as root? Should I not have done that? Is that why it says access denied when anyone besides root tries to FTP to it

What directory Is the file in?It's no file, it's a database. You can access it with phpMyAdmin.
Also could it be because I installed ispconfig as root?
No.
