i'm not sure that this is right thread, but i have one problem which i have tried to solve with webstergd and on his initiative i'm transferring our conversation here.

hi, i'm testing this control panel and for some reasons i have trouble configuring xoops to work on it and i was hoping u could help me.

installation went ok, i can install and uninstall modules change preferences of xoops and modules but i can't add anything: Add, Modify, and Delete Categories/Files in downloads, Add, Modify, and Delete Categories/Links in links, forums in forum, add polls...
any ideas? templates, cache and uploads have 777 permissions.

php-nuke work ok, so i think the problem is maybe in configuration of ISPConf?

thx

First off,
Xoops is quite an interesting animal. I think it is easy to use but it did have a learning curve. So dont worry your aren't alone.

Second,
I would highly recomend posting your question in the forums. It will help others who have your same question. It will also be looked at by a larger audence. Thus, could you please post your question on the forums along with my response? Sorry but I have started to lag behind with my knowledge of xoops so I might not be the best to ask...another reason to post :-)

Third (my response) :-) ,
To me it sounds as if your problem is with the xoops system itself and not permissions of files and directories. Are you able to add bocks and have you checked the permissions of the modules? From my experience you need to work in the administrator panel in 2 seperate areas in order to have the permission and then to add and change the modules. Specifically, there are 2 areas you need to work with permissions(from my memory) not just one.

Hopefully this helps. If it doesn't help please post and hopefully someone else will respond with a more direct answer. Also, please try posting at www.xoops.org they might also have more insite and knowledge on this subject.

Thanks and good luck!

regarding permissions: i've tried to do all that from admin module so if admin don't have all rights who have

regarding xoops.org: i did post on that site

http://www.xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=48105&forum=1

but still didn't get nay usable answer. :(

Please check the permissions of the xoops directories and files, and make sure you disable PHP Safe Mode in ISPConfig for that web site.
