Hi ,
I understands that ,to get latest kernel rc ,we need to get the pre-patch for latest rc and the stable kernel version previous to the rc version?
like for applying 2.6.29-rc-x ,I need to have 2.6.28-1 ?NOT 2.6.28-7 ?Is it correct.

Also ,what is the correct way of patching kernel source?
Thanks

Yes, that's right. You can find an example here: http://www.howtoforge.com/kernel_compilation_debian_etch

thanks.well I compiled a kernel on ubuntu and it turned out to be 236MB deb package when finished!I haven't added anything extra ,removed few unwanted things for me -like virtualization options etc. what will be the reason?

To be honest, I'm not sure. But this sounds way too big...
