Hi everybody! I am trying to help a friend these days with his server, as he is very good at php programming, but has little experience with servers and Linux in general. I'm a newb myself, but I have been using Linux at home for more than a year now and am pretty comfortable with the command line.

I tried to install ISPconfig just last night, but I have a wasn't successful. So I have a couple of questions. I tried to look for the answers in the documentation, but was not able to find them.

1. During installation it asks to

Please enter the IP address of the ISPConfig web

Is this the IP of the machine? The one DNS resolves to?

2. I used the public IP of the machine at the question above and finished the installation, but... then I tried to access the site at port 81 and nothing happened. The browser remained in "waiting" status for more than I had patience to wait (and I am generally patient :) ) Maybe I did something else wrong, but I how can I start to troubleshoot issues?

It's the IP address of the system, the one you see when you run ifconfig on the command line.

Please check /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/lib/config.inc.php and /root/ispconfig/httpd/conf/httpd.conf and look for the wrong IP address.

Thank you very much for the answer. Unfortunatelly, my friend suddenly decided ISPconfig is too much and too complicated for his needs. :((

great piece of software, though. very impressive.
