Network monitoring

Is there any network monitoring tool for LAN in linux which can log the activities of different workstations in the LAN in a centralized way?

Any hints, pointers or tutorials? Can Zenoss do this? Or is there any posters or experts here who achieved in a customized way? Thanks!

You can check out Zenoss, munin, Nagios, Cacti, etc. :)

I can recommend ntop. As a new linux user it was quick and easy to configure.
