Hello, I'd be interesting in a howto on a HA firewall with transparent fail over. Pretty much a Linux solution to OpenBSD pfsync/carp redundant firewall setup.

Maybe heartbeat + conntrack syncing with conntrack-tools?

Any thoughts on this are appreciated.

Try pfSense! :)

Just go to their site and you can find there tons of CARP/HA howto.
