Can anyone tell me the best way to change the ssl document root path.

Use the DocumentRoot option to set that.

I am OK to edit the Vhosts_ispconfig.conf file directly, as I only wish to change the DocumentRoot for the SSL (Port 433) connection only.
Will this be overwritten by the web interface.

You posted to the wrong forum, i thought u were not using ispconfig.

Will this be overwritten by the web interface.Yes, it will. But maybe you can use some rewrite rules in the Apache Directives field that solve your problem.
