I'm a web developer that has just filled up a windows box. I'm adding another server and I want to use Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server and Apache as my web server, but I'm concerned about the learning curve. I can setup the server, but I've never used Linux and doing everything from a command line is itimidating to me, and it seems like it would take more time to set up a websites and e-mail functions. There are a number of reasons why I want to move away from the windows platform, I just cant have it eat up a lot more time in the long run.
I'm looking for suggestions on making this kind of move. Is there a GUI for this kind of setup? Thanks in Advance!

(1) I'd rather use debian stable

(2) there are perfect howtos that give you a step-by-step explanation of what you need to do... the most difficult part one would be the networking stuff (ip/hostname)... and how to connect to it from other machines.

(3) if you are on a dynamic IP address sending of email is a no-no. Most mail server will not accept emails coming from a dynamic IP address - however for local testing it should be fine.
