Novice needs Quick guidance for SMTP server setup.

I am running a webserver and I need to send out automatic emails to some users occasionally. To do this all I need is to run postfix smtp application. I don't need POP3 or anything else, right? All the incoming emails will be handled by google email. Please let me know if my idea is not correct? :confused:

There are so many howtos on setting up postfix on this site just read through them.
