I like to setup Debian Linux on a dual xeon (64emt) server with raid 1 configured.

Which kernel supports multiprocessors and has 64 bit support?
Alternative:
Which stable kernel supports multiprocessors ? (32 bit).

Which steps has to be taken to setup RAID 1 for my two equal 250 GB SATA drives?

Any help would be great!

When you put the debian CD in your CD-ROM drive and start your server, you can get a list of the available boot options from DEBIAN by hitting the F keys. I recommend to use a 2.6 kernel, if i remember correctly the default kernels are compiled with smp support.
