I found the following in
/root/ispconfig/httpd/logs/error_log

chown: `adm42go:adm42go': invalid user

Was someone/something trying to break in?

You can try to find the user and group apm42go in your ISPConfig sources and configuration files. That are the user and group the commercial variant of ISPConfig ("42go ISP-Manager") are using (ISPConfig is using admispconfig instead).
