Wondering if anyone can recommend what the best distribution is for the dell dimension xps t600r (bought in 2000) with the following hardware. I'm looking for something that will install without any compatibility/configuration headaches.

The machine will be used just for internet surfing, word processing, and email so I don't need any bells and whistles - just minimal headaches.

If anyone has actually TESTED an install on this machine that info would be GREATLY appreciated. Also please list required drivers if not included in the distribution. Thx.

I'd try Ubuntu 7.10. As far as I can tell, it has the best hardware support. :)
