View Full Version : Fedora Core 4 - "localhost login" issues

First of all, I am a newbie when it come to linux!
i have followed the stept ( exactly as it says on "The Perfect Setup - HOW TO" ), i did specify a root password ( the only one that i could specify ). When Fedora boots, it asks me for a "localhost login" and a "password". the thing is that i don't remember during setup to have set such an account! please help me! what there is to be done here?

If you login on the Linux console, you will have to enter first the username (root) and then the password.

i did that and it workx ( thx very much ).
also it says during setup that "after the installation has been completed, create a non-root account for your general use or su ( su=? ). How do i do that?

You can do it with the useradd command. Run man useradd to find out which options you have.
