View Full Version : How to set chmod for website..mandriva

Hi guys..
I'm so new to linux..
just install mandriva linux with apache and extra...
everything went find..
using ftp seem to be cant give permission to my website directory..
ftp dont allow me to login as root...
so i login linux as root i try chmod 755 (dir) but that didnt work...
I have to make web user group and give chmod???
confused frustrate for two days..::confused: :(
Please help me...

What exactly did you try to do? Did you get any errors?

the ftp stands for : File Transfer Protocol
and the goal is to upload / download files

only from console you can change the perms for a file or directory.

again as falko said, what exactly you want to do ?
