about apache mod_proxy_balancer

Hello all and really thanks for create this web, it has been really useful for me, but i have a question for you, the thing is i have only two servers and i need balancing between them, it is possible to configure one of this servers as loadbalancer and at the same time to be an web server (this managed obviously with a vhost in apache and rewrite)? if it can be done, what are the disadvantages of this setup? if not.. there is another solution of load balance between only two servers?
