I've read a comment, you cannot run Windows XP as a guest if both Fedora
& Windows are on the same SATA hard drive. I can't find any further information about this. This will be my first serious attempt at Linux, but I will need to use XP for the time being. Could anyone advise me, for example do I need to install a second SATA drive or a IDE drive.

I don't know why this shouldn't work. All you have to do is convert your physical Windows system into a virtual one that you can then use in VMware: http://www.howtoforge.com/vmware_converter_windows_linux

I'm using Fedora 7 & Windows XP on the same SATA drive without any problems.

Thanks for your replies, feel more confident about trying now. If you don't hear from me again on this subject you can take as mission accomplished. Thanks again.
