First I'm a new user and got it up an running on a naked debian4 dedicated server at 1and1 ;-)

I've looked through these forums but cant find a definitive answer.

One this that I;m trying to stop is the creation of index.html and any other files/directories (possibly as an option).

What is quite irritating is that I renamed index.html to _index.html, then went and made a minor change to a site, and it had replaced index.html.

Is there a way to stop this behaviour.

Just put a valid index file (e.g. index.html, index.htm, index.php) in the root directory of the site and no index.html file will be recreated.

So there is no option to "not" create the index ?

Also where would I go modify the index pages.

Can really find any documentation on the questions and they are pretty basic.

If you need help with documentation then I can help, particularly docbook. I maintain the smarty.php.net docs)

It will be greatiIf you want to help to write ISPConfig documentation.

Our documentation is in HTML format and not docbook.

We've created an SVN repository for the documentation. Unfortunately we're having hardware problems today with the SVN server... :(
