Need to access ftp with IE or Firefox

I need to access ftp (ftp://ftp.misite.com). I always get logged as guest
I need the IE ask me for user and password

You could use the Firefox FTP addon FireFTP (https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/684)

Did you type in ftp:// or http://?

As torusturtle did, I recommend to use a real FTP client such as SmartFTP or gFTP.
