What's an AMI, and what's an AWS EC2?

AWS is amazon web services.
EC2 = elastic compute cloud
AMIs are instances of images
basically, amazon provides web services that allow you to turn on instances of servers for .10/hour. They offer a few fedora 4 images (AMIs) that you can run and they also provide the provision for creating your own image but you need to do it through a shell.
Here is a good overview link: http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AmazonEC2/gsg/2007-01-19/
