I installed the Perfect Desktop - PCLinusOS 2007 on a brand new Acer Aspire with an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor, and a built in Graphics card (Not sure which one). I am just learning linux and did not want the preinstalled O/S. I can't seem to be able to change the screen resolution any higher than 800x600, when I know the monitor (Compaq 7500) 17" is capable of greater resolution with other O/S.

Any suggestions on how to increase the resolution?

Thanks in advance for your help

You can try to set another resolution in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
