Hi all!
I'm new to this forum and I love this site. It has helped me soooo much lately.

Sorry if this question has been asked, I have done a search but did not find what I wanted.

My question is..... How do you setup Backuppc to Rsync windows machines? I have found some sites mentioning Cygwin with ssh and rsync. I tried to do it that way but failed miserably. I ran into so many issues with the damn SSH crap. Is there a way to Rsync a windows machine without using SSH. I'm backing up locally and really do not need SSH for any security reasons.

I've been following this walkthrough...
http://www.howtoforge.com/linux_backuppc
And this....

Any info would help me out so much.

If you just need a backup of that windows machine to a central site,
maybe take a look at bacula (http://www.bacula.org), it also has a storage client for windows...

Yeah it's just getting damn Backuppc to be configured correctly to connect to the server with Rsync.

Does anyone know if you can make Backuppc Rsync without using SSH? I went through and put # in front of the SSH commands. Will that be enough?

If anyone knows of a walk through that explains backing up windows machine with Rsync instead of Samba with Backuppc would be great.

Thank you all for you help!

I got it working!! WOOOOO!

I installed cwRsync on the win server and got it setup correctly, then fiddled with Backuppc and finally got the settings correct in it.
