When i type this in"mysqladmin -h server1.example.com -u root password yourrootsqlpassword". I get this.. mysqladmin -h ns1.anonymitymusic.net -u root password letter
mysqladmin: connect to server at 'ns1.anonymitymusic.net' failed
error: 'Lost connection to MySQL server during query'
. What am I doing worng. I cant get it set up.

do you see anything in the logs of the server you try to connect to?

I guess you are doing a installation as described in the perfect setup guide? In this case, skip this step and proceed with the next steps. You may check your database if it contains a second, empty, root passwort setting after you installed ISPConfig with phpmyadmin.
