HI
I have a query. When i create a new domain and then the email ID's the ID's get created in the format user@www.domain.com
If I view the virtusertable, the following entries are created:
webID_user@www.domain.com webID_user
user@www.domain.com webID_user

Y does the www get prefixed???
If I go to the list of sites in ispconfig, and then remove www from the hostname entry atleast 2 or three times, the www gets removed from the above mentioned entries
Plz. help with a proper way to get around this. Thanx for the help to the previous queries

Thats all fine so as it is, try your email accounts and you will see that it works. You can not remove the www.

So that means the www will be prefixed. Is there no way out other that the way i do to get this prefix out??? Could it be possible that after the server is restarted the www would also be prefixed again ????

What is the problem that you have. Are the email accounts working or not? If they dont work, please add a co-domain with empty hostname field and the domain domain.com to your website. This co-domain is normally created automatically if you did not set the max number of domains too low.

Sorry to say things r getting confusing but the issue remains the same
I have created numerous domains some of these do not have www prefixed to the domain whereas some have. The procedure for both of these are the same. If today I have a domain without www prefixed & then try to create/modify an email ID, automatically www get prefixed to it
As pointed I created a co-domain with no hostname & the domain.com in the domain option. But then ID for the mails are reflected in virtusertable but mails never come in. I had the delete the co-domain, then selected the basis option, and removed www from the hostname twice. The www disappeared for the said domain from virtusertable but any modifications to the domains & www reappears. Wondering why this weird behaviour

You mix things up. Please read my post above carefully.

1) You can not remove the www hostname from a website.
2) You must create a co-domain with EMPTY hostname firld and NOT a website with empty hostname field.

1) I know www cannot be removed from the hostname. But if I just clear the entry twice or thrice the entries in virtusertable appear perfect; the www in the basis entry does not vanish & im aware of that. But at that point the entries in virtusertable appear prefect; i have email address listed with & without www as part od domain name

2) I have created a co-domain itself with blank hostname. but then at that point mails for the domain are not accepted. If i delete the co-domain just created then this work fine provided i do as listed in step 1

Sorry for testing your patience

But other things will fail. I've programmed a large part of this software so I know what I'am talking about and you dont have to tell me how ISPConfig works. If you stop removing the www from this field, we would already have solved your problem.

2) You must create the co-domain with the same domain name as the website, just the hostname is empty.

If the emails are then not accepted anymore, post a excerpt of your mail log.

Im not questioning the fact that you played a major part in coding the software. I just mentioned whatever i was trying to do to get things functional. It mite not seem rite accoring to you, but that's been working for me. That's what im concerned about. Things seems confusing for me

Secondly, if i create the co-domain the mail do not reach my server. no entries in the maillog even after an hour of waiting

Anyway I'll try creating the co-domain & check the logs again.

Most probably this means that the MX record for the Co-Domain is wrong. Please check with dig mx co-domain

Thanx to all for the support given.

I have created co-domains as pointed out & that has resolved the issues. Its really amazing that previously the creation of co-domains did not help me out.

Aynway, allz well that ends well. Thanx for the assistance given. Sorry incase I have just been too confusing with the manner I mite have posted the issues I faced.

Thanx,
Syd
