I have ubuntu 6.10 perfect setup installed and running good. I only have installed what gets installed in the how to. I keep ispconfig updated to the newest release.
Is it nessecary for me to check for updates using the apt-get update
apt-get upgrade method or does updating ispconfig take care of everything that should be updated?

You still need to run apt-get update and upgrade. You can install cron-apt which will download all updates for you....you just need to install them.

I've never done it that way, so I don't know. You can set it to download and install automatically. One reason why you personnaly want to perform the install is to see if there are errors, config decisions to be made or packages installed that you may not want installed. Cron-apt will email you each morning what needs updating...so you only need to bother with the email on the rare day where something does need to be installed.
