Hello all, :)
I installed the latest version of ispconfig on debian etch. all seems runnning fine. Only webftp is not working. I can login to webftp but I can not upload files. I get an error:
FTP: Failed to write Array/.htaccess
I tried with another web too but the same.
I googled but nothing to find.
What can cause this error.?
can someone help?

FTP: Failed to write Array/.htaccess
Does this error occur when you upload a .htaccess file or when you upload any file?

You're not the first who reports that problem, but neither me nor Till have been able to reproduce this problem on our installations, so we can't tell when/why the problem occurs. :(

hmm,
I just did a connect via an ftp -client. Im able to browse with a normal ispconfig- user through the whole filesystem.
Maybe this is an error together /dependend with the "write array"- error ?
How can I solve that the user is only in his path? new issue?

It seems I have it solved. I followed the new instructions for debian etch:
http://www.howtoforge.com/perfect_setup_debian_etch_p6
and did a reconfigure with that. Now all is running fine!!
thanks to all !!! :)

And the
FTP: Failed to write Array/.htaccess
error is gone, too?
stefan
14th April 2007, 15:17
yes! The error is away! I backuped the proftpd.conf and did the new link and configuration how it is discribed in the howto for etch.

Then the problem was IPv6, I guess...

May be you can try this..
step 1-create user&email and set as administrator
#if u already have an administrator.. delete it first.
step 2- log in to webftp using the new user that you create in step 1.
*** are you using joomla with ispconfig?

Please reconfigure your FTP server as described in the perfect setup guide for your Linux distribution.

Please reconfigure proftpd as mentioned in the guide:
Open the file /etc/proftpd.conf in an editor and add the lines:
DefaultRoot ~
IdentLookups off
ServerIdent on "FTP Server ready."
at the end if the file, right before the proftpd_ispconfig.conf include and restart postfix.

Hi,
I have the same problem, I checked the file /etc/proftpd.conf, all is OK.
It's possible to login through ftp client, but I cannot upload, delete ... any files with an administrator login.
Anybody can help me ?

Are you using ISPConfig's Web-FTP, or a real FTP client?

If i use Web-ftp, ISPConfig return the following message : " FTP: Failed to write Array/.htaccess"
And if I use FireFTP for example, the client return this message : "550 temp.wav: Permission denied : /web/[filename]"
For the same file : example.wav

I cannot transfer the log files, I tried with explorer of Windows(r) and the error message is : "550 mysql : permission denied"
Maybe this new information can help you.
I begin to be discouraged
Thanks in advance.

You can copy the logs to your windows box with WinSCP ( http://winscp.net/eng/index.php ) and then open them in a text editor.

If anyone encounters the "550 Access is denied."-problem again:
Check your router/gateway/firewall settings from where you are uploading (not on the ftp/ispconfig-server itself!). And check them again.
In my case there was a Microsoft ISA Server 2006 with standard configuration and full internet access. But there is some (hidden) configuration for FTP, which is read-only in standard config. You have to edit that firewall rule (configure FTP) and remove the option for "read-only".
In german, see here: http://www.edvblogger.de/2006/12/19/ms-isa-server-2006-und-ftp/
Grrr, Microsoft. What does "unlimited internet access" mean to them? Just browse the web, but don't be able to contribute? Grr..

We have experienced the same error today. (ISPC 2.2.25)
When I look at upload_save.php I see a strange error handling.
if(!$go_api->isp_webftp->webftp_put($file['tmp_name'],$updir."/".$file['name'], FTP_BINARY)) $go_api->errorMessage($go_api->lng("FTP: Failed to write")." $file/.htaccess");
I suppose this is a copy/paste error and should read
if(!$go_api->isp_webftp->webftp_put($file['tmp_name'],$updir."/".$file['name'], FTP_BINARY)) $go_api->errorMessage($go_api->lng("FTP: Failed to write").$updir."/".$file['name']);
for the error message to be correct.
I will now dig further and see if it has something to do with that :)
