Hi,
Im restoring my server at the moment and i have a copy of all the files on a spare hard drive. I needed to restore my mysql databases, i thought that maybe if i copy all the mysql database files from my old disk to my new disk it might work (/var/lib/mysql) however when ever i try to login to ispconfig with my new or old password it doesnt work, so i guess the MySQL database restore didnt work:( Is there anyway to get my old databases back, i have a full copy of every file on my old server.
Thanks,
Alex

if i remember right i had done this some times ago.
But
1) it must be the same version on the old and on the new server
2) think about the rights, and the owner the files must have.

Is the mysql root password identical on the old and new installation, if not, you will ahve to change it in the config.inc.php file.

Yea the same password, however i replaced all the files,I then checked in phpmyadmin the table sys_user and only the admin user was there and not my other users, also the collum passwort was empty, i shutdown ispconfig then replaced all the files set the permmisions restarted mysql. Checked phpmyadmin and the table still had no password or the previous users:confused: However all the other tables in ispconfig_db were the same as the perviouse restore

I created a test database and copied all the ispconfig_db mysql files to it then checked it in phpmyadmin and all the tables worked excecpt sys_user it gave me this error:
#1017 - Can't find file: 'sys_user' (errno: 2)
I think there might be a problem with my backup:(

Ok. i found another backup about 2 months old, i hadnt added any users since then only deleted users so i just restored the sys_*
Thanks for your help,
Alex
