works on nvidia GeForce 7000M

Thanks alot. I succesfully completed these steps with a nvidia GeForce 7000 M card. Note1: I had to start X to run the nvidia-xconfig command. Note2: I noticed that nvidia-xonfig moved all the new settings (as described in your post) to the screen section.
