Good instructions so far. I wish I had seen them before I started, particularly the "scan" command.  However, it is not obvious once you edit contacts, how to send them back to the phone.  Wammu's "save", "backup" and "write" seem to all do the same thing.  I hope you have time to write up that important part of the phone management cycle.
