Great howto.Worked for me.

One Suggestion though for a quick version change.

create a songbird directory with version, for examle /home/falco/songbirdv0.3

 and a link in the /home/falco dir called songbird pointing back to songbirdv0.3

(ln -s songbirdv0.3 songbird) 

This would allow you to upgrade songbird without redoing the menu.

The only thing to do is to install the new versions in a new dir, change the link - and to copy the icon dir from the old version dir to the new version dir
